12 Days of Hiking – Day 9 – Hughes Mountain

As you can see the ground was covered in frost when I arrived. That was not how I expected my 12 Days of Hiking to go since the idea was to get good fall photos of all the hiking trails, but by the time I reached the top it had warmed up and the view exceeded my expectations.

I saw a man hiking once I got to the very top and he said “It’s like a different world up here.” I feel like that is a perfect way to describe Hughes Mountain.

The total distance to the top and back down is 1.5 miles, but give yourself plenty of  time to take in the view and to check out the unique rock formations, also known as Devil’s Honeycomb.

Hughes Mountain is 21 miles from Farmington, located on Cedar Creek Road in southern Washington County.
